Google Search Console SEO Audit
A practical Google Search Console audit focused on queries, pages, CTR, ranking changes, indexation and the SEO opportunities already visible in your own data.
Search Console audit
Search Console is often the best place to start when a website has been online long enough to accumulate real search data. It shows what Google is already testing the site for, which pages receive impressions, where clicks are being lost and which parts of the archive may be declining.
Our Search Console audits are designed to turn that data into decisions. We are less interested in producing a long export and more interested in identifying which pages deserve work, which queries reveal a missed opportunity and what changed when performance moved.
This is particularly useful for sites that already publish content or have an established service architecture but are unsure what to prioritise next.
When this is useful
A Search Console audit is useful when the site already has enough data to learn from.
Traffic has dropped
You need to separate sitewide decline from specific pages, queries, CTR changes or indexing issues.
Impressions are growing but clicks are not
The site may be appearing for useful searches without earning the click or ranking strongly enough.
You have a large content archive
Search Console can help decide which older pages deserve refreshing before another batch of content is commissioned.
You do not know what to work on next
Existing query and page data can reveal opportunities that generic keyword tools will miss.
What we can work on
Scope follows the evidence, not a fixed package.
Query opportunity analysis
Finding searches with strong impressions, near-ranking positions, weak CTR or unexpected relevance to the business.
Page-level performance
Identifying pages gaining or losing visibility and separating healthy variation from meaningful decline.
Click-through review
Looking for pages that are being shown but not chosen, then checking whether title, intent or page positioning may be part of the problem.
Content decline
Finding older pages where rankings or clicks have weakened and assessing whether a substantive refresh is justified.
Cannibalisation signals
Spotting cases where multiple URLs repeatedly appear for closely related queries and may need clearer intent separation.
Indexation patterns
Reviewing important indexing signals alongside page quality and site architecture where search coverage is a concern.
How we approach it
Start with the business, then choose the work.
Get the right data
We can work from exports or agreed access. For an initial review, screenshots or CSV exports are often enough.
Segment the site
We separate page types, periods and query themes so one large total does not hide what is actually changing.
Find actionable patterns
We focus on opportunities and problems where a concrete page-level action exists.
Turn findings into priorities
The final output explains what to investigate or change first rather than leaving you with another dashboard to interpret.
Possible deliverables
What an engagement might leave you with.
Not every project needs every item below. We scope the useful parts once we understand the site and the problem.
- Query opportunity list
- Page winners and decliners
- CTR opportunities
- Content-refresh shortlist
- Potential cannibalisation findings
- Prioritised next actions
Frequently asked questions
Questions about this service.
Do you need access to my Search Console account?
Not necessarily. For many audits we can begin with exported CSV files or screenshots. If deeper access is useful, we can discuss the minimum level of access required for the agreed work.
What can Search Console tell me that a keyword tool cannot?
Search Console contains first-party data about how your own site is appearing in Google, including real queries, impressions and clicks. Third-party tools can still be useful for broader research, but they cannot replace the site's own performance data.
Can you diagnose a sudden traffic drop?
We can investigate it, but a drop may have multiple causes. We look at timing, affected pages, query changes, indexation, CTR and other evidence before deciding what is most likely to deserve action.
Will you tell me which articles to update?
Yes, where the data supports it. We can identify pages with declining performance, near-ranking opportunities or strong impressions that may justify a meaningful refresh.
Is this a full technical SEO audit?
Not by itself. A Search Console audit is focused on performance evidence from Google Search Console. If technical crawling or a broader site audit is needed, we can scope that separately or include it as part of a wider SEO engagement.
A useful next step
If you have Search Console data, there is usually something useful to learn from it.
Send us the site and a short description of what changed or what you are trying to improve. You do not need to grant account access for the initial conversation.
